Today I met my friend, Kirsten, for lunch at Fanoos, a Persian restaurant in Torrance. I have no idea if I've ever had Persian food before, but when I asked another friend what she thought I could expect, she said, "Meat."
Yep. The menu was pretty much meat, meat and more meat.
So I decided on the meat (chicken actually, in kabob form). It also came with a salad, yellow rice, a pita, and a really yummy whole roasted tomato.
At the end of the meal, the waiter brought us a small chunk of baklava on a plate - like you'd get a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant. I'm sure the calories are about the same, too. Heh.
Now I can check "try Persian food" off my list of things to do in my life.

Iranian food is very good, kind of a bit Afghan and a bit Greek, both of which I love. Do you like lamb? You either hate it or love it but it is a staple in that part of the world.
Hang on I just realized that you have been blogging about food quite a bit, that must be one of the reasons I like your blog so much!
This blog has changed your life, Jill. And reading it has changed mine. You thought I was kidding about blogging about mashed potatoes, but I just saw a recipe on T.v. about mashed potato balls. They have a cheese center and are rolled in bread crumbs and then baked. Bet they could be fried. Or rolled in something else: flax seed; parsley; bacon.
Yum. Must eat breakfast before I lose all control.
To the owner of this blog, how far youve come?
